Police have arrested two middle school students aged 16 and 19 respectively. They are suspected to be related to three robberies, and one is still at large. Police have locked the persons concerned and are looking for the suspect.
On November 27 last year, two money changers at Ashley Road in Tsim Sha Tsui were carrying 2.7 million cash in bags. When passing the Hankou Center, three thieves snatched 1.2 million cash and the thieves fled. Late at night on December 11, the same year, three thieves robbed at a game machine center when they were closed. Two of them took a beef knife and stole 40,000 yuan in cash from the game machine center. After 7 days, on December 18, a private club upstairs in a building on Kwong Fuk Road, Tai Po was trespassed by three thieves with beef knives. The thieves robbed members of their personal property and cash, involving a total amount of 220,000. Two days after the case, two of the thieves returned to the club with their guts and the staff found the police immediately. At that time, the police together with an off-duty police officer and enthusiastic citizens subdued a 15-year-old boy near the club. With a beef knife, the three cases were later investigated by the Tai Po Police District Criminal Support Team. The boy was temporarily charged with one count of "robbery" and the case was brought to the Fanling Magistracy on December 30.
Tai Po Police District Assistant Commander (Criminal) Superintendent Zhuang Chengyi said that after investigation, the police successfully locked in another thief and arrested on the night of February 7 this year at Wu Song Street, Yau Ma Tei. The arrested was 19 years old, and met the earlier arrested boy. Both were in middle school and had no triad background. The third culprit is still at large. Police have locked the persons concerned and are looking for the suspect. Police do not rule out thieves committing similar crimes in different areas and will investigate their motives. At present, the three cases are being followed up by the Second Squad of Tai Po Police District.
