Axel Kicillof met Sergio Berni this afternoon in the Buenos Aires governorate, ratified him as Minister of Security and told him to "work together" with the Nation . It was a message to seek the alignment of the official and favor the relaxation amid the political noise between Berni and the Casa Rosada.
Earlier, the governor had spoken with the President and also maintained contact with Interior Minister Eduardo "Wado" De Pedro. "They talk every day about management issues," they explained to Clarin in La Plata, but also stressed that they had discussed the conflict unleashed when this newspaper revealed the letter in which Berni asked the Nation to withdraw federal forces from the province.
In the Province they denied, in addition, that Berni has presented his resignation, as assured by a rumor that circulated this noon. "Nor was he asked to leave office," a Buenos Aires source told this newspaper.
"He is on duty and the governor instructed him to work jointly with the Nation," they said from La Plata minutes after the meeting between Kicillof and Berni.
In Casa Rosada, the issue is on the agenda but they seek to reduce its importance. Fernandez, early, spoke on the radio and said that Nation will continue with its policy of deploying troops from federal forces in the province.
Clarín revealed on Monday a letter sent by Berni to his national pair, Sabina Frederic, in which he requested the withdrawal of federal forces deployed in the province of Buenos Aires. These are almost 7,000 troops, in good part of the National Gendarmerie. The minister sent the note last Wednesday with corrections and strikethroughs to an agreement sent by Frederic. In the absence of agreement, Berni requested that federal forces be withdrawn from the province.
