The consumer defense association UFC-Que Choisir denounced Wednesday a "massive" price increase in 2020, based on the analysis of " nearly 500 contracts from 86 different organizations ". If half of the contracts increase by more than 5% (against 4% in 2019), the differences are significant between the bad students like insurers Swiss Life (+ 12%) or Apicil (+ 10.7%) and the good ones like Macif (+ 2.7%) or the Mutual General (+ 3.2%). "The differences in practice between professionals are wide open", although they "know the same environment", notes the UFC.
Results refuted by the French Mutuality, which calls into question the methodology of the UFC-Que Choisir whose study "is based on a call for evidence", which "cannot be considered as a serious and representative method". According to his calculations based on "a sample of 13 million people" , this federation of 280 mutual health insurance ensures that "the average increase is 2.4% in 2020".
However, the UFC-Que Choisir takes the opportunity to relaunch the debate on the termination "at any time" of complementary health, which it recalls having "obtained hard" last year in Parliament, and which must enter into effective no later than December 1. The association considers that "galloping inflation" in prices justifies anticipating this measure which is supposed to lead to "lower prices" and urges the Minister of Health, Agnès Buzyn, to act as quickly as possible.
