DPRK Ambassador in Damascus: We stand firmly beside Syria

The Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in Damascus, Mong Jong Nam, affirmed that the relations between Syria and Korea are distinguished and based on principles and morals, and that his country's government consistently supports Syria’s struggle to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ambassador Mong said during a reception held by the embassy on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the birth of Commander Kim Jong Il, we stand firmly beside Syria, the government, the army and the people in its just struggle to protect the country's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

He pointed out that last year witnessed an active exchange of delegations between the two countries, in addition to that the eleventh session of the joint committee took place successfully, which indicates the depth and strength of the existing strategic relations between the two countries.

For his part, Speaker of the People's Assembly Hamouda Al-Sabbagh affirmed that the friendship between Syria and the DPRK extends for many years. Its foundations were established by the founding leader Hafez Al-Assad, President Kim Il-sung, and leader Kim Jong Il.

Dr. Faisal al-Miqdad, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, stated that the relations that linked Syria and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea exceeded the tests of time, and since its establishment, relations have been moving forward without any decline.

The ceremony was attended by the president and members of the Syrian-Korean Parliamentary Friendship Committee and a number of members of the People's Assembly.
