A Japanese citizen became the oldest man in the world yesterday at 112 and is 344 days old, according to Guinness Book of Records. Chitsu Watanabe, a native of Nigata, northern Japan in 1907, received a certificate on his record in a nursing home in the city. Former record holder, Maso Nunka, another Japanese, died last month. The oldest person in the world is Kane Tanaka, also Japanese, 117 years old.
Until about a decade ago, Watanabe, used to make bonsai, the traditional Japanese art of growing small sculpted trees, and he exhibited his works in exhibitions. According to Guinness Book of Records, he loves desserts such as pudding and peas.

To the full articleWatanabe graduated from the agricultural school and then moved to Taiwan and moved to sugar plantations. He has lived in Taiwan for 18 years, he married Mitsu and they have brought five children into the world. After the end of World War II, he returned to Nigatta and worked in the county government until he retired. He also grew fruits and vegetables on the family farm.
When asked what his longevity secret was, he gave this advice: Don't get angry and keep smiling.
