The Union of Magistrates' Union (USM) " calls on the government to finally take the measure of the disarray expressed by all the actors in the judicial chain and to very quickly find a way out of the crisis ", in a press release.
The union " shares the observation made by the lawyers of a breathless justice " and calls " the magistrates to refuse late hearings and the creation of new hearings ", for lack of " adequate means to cope with the increased activity current ”.
For more than a month, lawyers have launched a hard strike (massive defense, request for dismissals, etc.) to defend their autonomous pension plan against a reform that plans to double pension contributions (from 14 to 28%) for lawyers earning less than 40,000 euros per year. This movement, unprecedented in its scale and duration, suffocates the courts: thousands of trials have been postponed or been the scene of a zealous defense extending the hearings until the middle of the night. Several heads of courts, notably in Toulouse and Paris, denounced an attack on the " public service " of justice and underlined a " deterioration " of the already strained relations between lawyers and magistrates.
The USM makes the same description of a situation " untenable for the courts and trying for the magistrates and civil servants ", of registers " on the verge of implosion ", but designates the government as the first responsible for the dysfunctions after " reforms successive in scale and without sufficient means ”.
The union considers that the actions taken by the lawyers " confirm the fragility and considerably worsen the difficulties of the courts, to the detriment of litigants and the quality of justice ".

He lists the main consequences of the lawyers' movement: " overloading of hearings due to the numerous dismissals ", " risks of release of dangerous persons " and the paralysis of " procedures which require the presence of lawyers ", such as immediate appearances, juvenile delinquency or plead guilty.
