A security source announced Thursday that Hamas was sending messages to Israel, which unilaterally decided to stop the bombing of rockets and rocket launches at Israel. The security official added that "this coming night, as well as the weekend, will serve as a test of stability. As peace is maintained, Israel will expand its fishing grounds back to 15 miles and return the reduced 500 trading permits."
The security official added that "we are skeptical, but an attempt will be made to restore stability to the Gaza envelope. The actions on the ground will be determined." Despite this, the chairman of the fisheries organization in the Gaza Strip told Quds that a message had been received to increase the fishing area to 15 nautical miles starting at 6am tomorrow and to restore the traders' licenses canceled in recent days due to security tensions.

The security official's announcement comes after earlier this week, an Egyptian security delegation arrived in the Gaza Strip after a five-month split between Hamas and Cairo. The delegation reportedly sent a warning message from Israel to Hamas officials about the calm and security of the joint borders between the parties. Following the departure of the delegation, the Palestinian newspaper al-Quds reported that Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip have reached agreements regarding the cessation of balloon launches to Israel.
In recent weeks there has been a rise in rocket launches and explosives, along with tensions after the unveiling of the "century deal" by US President Donald Trump. In light of the sequence of cases, the unit coordinating government operations in the Occupied Territories announced last week the reduction of fishing space in the Gaza Strip from 15 nautical miles to ten miles, pending a new announcement.

On Tuesday, a rocket launched from the Gaza Strip hit open ground in the Negev Regional Council without causing any damage or casualties. Two days earlier, another rocket was launched into Israeli territory, in response to which the IDF attacked Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip via fighter jets and aircraft. Warning that this action would be "very different from its predecessors."
