Geretsried - For the eleventh time, the sports representative of the city council, Wolfgang Werner, invited club officials and interested citizens to the discussion round "Where's the sneaker pressed?" To the town hall on Wednesday evening. The 22 participants were particularly concerned with the future use of the inter-communal indoor pool. The local chairman of the German Lifesaving Association (DLRG), Maiko Alpers, and the chairman of the water polo and swimming club (WSV), Uwe Röhler, complained that both the amount of the user fees and the occupancy times are still uncertain.

"We need planning security, but have so far not received any information from the city administration," said Röhler. He fears an enormous increase in the previous fees, which could cause severe financial difficulties for the WSV and even endanger the continued existence of the association. Swimming coach Terke Stapf also believes that there will be bottlenecks in the occupancy of the pool. "Schools, clubs, adult education centers: everyone wants to get in here," she explained. As the indoor pool is scheduled to open at the beginning of the new school year in September, time is short. "Something has to happen in the next four weeks," she said.

Discussion leader Werner reminded that the public utility company will operate the bathroom. He plans to put occupancy and fee management on the agenda for the next meeting of the Committee on Youth, Seniors, Social Affairs, Culture and Sports on March 10th. Werner: "The topic has to go to the city council: we can't wait until summer."

Renato Wittstadt, district chairman of the Bavarian State Sports Association, recommended that the city's sports department take action now and inquire in writing about the needs of the individual clubs. In addition, the time of the election campaign is favorable to get the parties on board. "There is a higher chance that the demands will be heard and implemented," said Wittstadt.

Norbert Junius, deputy head of the football department at TuS Geretsried, would like the clubs to take part in political decision-making processes beyond the election campaign. "We have to show presence," he said. Just like the TuS youth football department head Bernd Meier, Junius is concerned that the heavily used sports fields on the Böhmwiese will no longer exist with the S-Bahn extension. There are replacements in the urban area. In order to exploit all possibilities, clubs and cities would have to move closer together.
