2020-02-14T11:47:41.019Z

For its 7th edition, the LVMH prize for young fashion designers has selected 20 brands of 17 different nationalities from among 1,700 applications.

The diversity of nationalities of the aspiring LVMH Prize winners confirms the international audience for the prestigious award. "I would like to warmly thank all of the candidates for their enthusiastic participation in this 7th edition," says Delphine Arnault, at the origin of the competition created in 2013. It is with pleasure and a lot of interest that we discovered their work and their creativity. I am delighted to welcome, for the semi-final, with of course the Committee of Experts, these twenty brands of young talented designers. All are driven by an innovative vision, resolutely turned towards the future: research of new materials, use of bio-textiles, use of recycled fibers, concern for new craftsmanship, desire for reasonable and local production. So many initiatives that resonate with an awareness of the fashion and luxury sector, and which are in line with the values of fashion always attentive to our environment. Note that, this year, more and more designers are working as a group. Among the semi-finalists, six duos and a trio are present. Finally, this selection is illustrated by its parity: fourteen candidates and fourteen candidates, each of which illustrates in their own way the constant dialogue between female and male changing rooms, abolishing the boundaries between genders and reflecting on the principles of a wardrobe. more inclusive. The blend of know-how and modernity, as well as the originality of the different semi-finalist collections, heralds a very beautiful 2020 edition. ”

On February 27 and 28, the semi-finalists will present their creations to the International Committee of 68 experts in the showroom located at LVMH headquarters, at 22 avenue Montaigne in Paris. Then this jury will select 8 lucky people elected for the final which will take place at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, on June 5.

One-year financial support and mentorship

The winner of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers will thus receive 300,000 euros and will benefit for one year from tailor-made mentorship from a specially dedicated team of LVMH, expert in key areas such as intellectual property, sourcing, production, distribution, image, communication, marketing and sustainable development.

The Karl Lagerfeld Prize will reward a young creator with 150,000 euros and a year of mentoring.
