Sturm Sabine has not only caused numerous damages. The strong wind has also pushed the two wind turbines of the Fürstenfeldbruck public utility to their limits.
Mammendorf / Fürstenfeldbruck - Almost all of Monday the output was a good 3000 kilowatts - practically the maximum. At 8 a.m., the wind turbine near Mammendorf did not deliver any electricity for a good half an hour, as a graphic of the company shows. The experts suspect that the gondola and its wings had to untwist, explains spokesman Ingmar Jäschke. This happens when the gondola has rotated too often around its own axis due to changing wind directions. Because it is connected to the tower by cables and therefore cannot rotate as often as you want.
The diagram clearly shows that the wind turbine did not produce electricity for about half an hour around 8 a.m.
The system then stopped at around 8 a.m. and turned back using a motor. This process takes place fully automatically without human intervention, explains Jäschke. The wind turbine cannot produce electricity during this time. The graphic also shows that after the compulsory break, electricity production reached its maximum again within a short time.
At around 1 p.m., the power plant apparently turned briefly out of the wind, so that electricity production dropped slightly briefly. The reason for this was probably a violent gust. The rest of the day the system continued to run without any problems. tog
