Hôtel Hubert, in Brussels: Le Figaro's expert opinion

2020-02-15T06:29:41.692Z

The newest member of the Pandox group is located in the heart of the Belgian capital. Warm and chic with its Art Deco attire, it does not skimp on the small details that make the difference.

8/10 for the Hotel Hubert

Halfway between retro and trendy, chic and warm, welcome to the world of Hubert! Hubert is this imaginary owner, hipster traveler a bit eccentric who leaves his notes everywhere. He taunts his host - "Don't hate me because I'm a little cooler" -, invites him to be greener - "Saving the planet is sexy "(" saving the planet is sexy ") - or encourages him to relax -" Drinking wine, feeling fine "(in a multitude of more or less inspired quotes). It is these small originalities that make the Hotel Hubert in Brussels a place where life is good.

9/10 The situation

Opposite the royal galleries of Saint-Hubert, a stone's throw from the Grand Place, the Hotel Hubert is ideally located. The hotel is easily accessible from the central station and a few minutes from public transport. Despite this proximity to the center and its tourists, the surroundings remain calm, day and night.

8/10 The decor

Vintage and cozy are the watchwords in decoration at Hubert. Warm shades, plum are predominant. At the counter and in the cage-free elevators, which climb the floors in the middle of the internal patio, there is a very Art Deco inspiration.

7/10 The rooms

Comfortable and modern, the hotel's one hundred rooms are ideal for spending a night without lingering on. Everything necessary is made available, the available space is correct (18 m² for the "king room") but there is no incentive to linger a few hours inside. We prefer to hang out in the lobby, play billiards or go out and enjoy all that Brussels has to offer.

8/10 Services, equipment

The services and facilities are all little touches that make the difference with a stay in a classic establishment. Check-in and check-out are done on computers at the entrance, useful in case of crowds at the reception. A touch screen in the lobby provides information about the city. A little further, a coffee machine and fruit are available. In the basement, the most motivated will find an impeccable and modern gym.

For those who stay more than a day, simply put their dirty laundry in a bag at 9 a.m. to find it clean at 7 p.m. In a spirit of preserving the planet, a sign left on the door handle will allow to decline the daily cleaning and the use of detergents, in exchange for a voucher of 5 € for a drink at the bar (not valid on the day departure).

8/10 The foodtruck and the bar

At the back of the lobby rutile a citroën HY, an old van repainted in blue, produced until the 1980s, which now operates as a food truck. We eat pork, beef or chicken hot dogs with American sauces and cheese nachos. A nice experience to test. For more diversity, several restaurants nearby will do the trick. Small flat: the bar which does not have a large choice of drinks. We will be satisfied with a Belgian beer like Duvel.

8/10 The quality / price ratio

Starting at € 95 per double room, rates vary according to dates. In fact, the expense turns around around 130 €, which remains a good deal for such a location and level of comfort, in the heart of Brussels.

Please note: breakfast is not included for the simple reason that the hotel does not offer it. We recommend The Foodmaker, with which the establishment has a partnership and which is directly connected with the entrance hall. This chain of Belgian restaurants offers fresh and healthy (fruit, homemade muesli, organic coffee ...) all you can eat buffet for € 15 or à la carte.
