Russia has refuted the claims of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the existence of Russian military companies operating in Libya, stressing that these allegations are incompatible with the reality of the situation.
The Sputnik news agency quoted the Russian special envoy to the Middle East and North Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, as saying on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, commenting on Erdogan's allegations that "this is not consistent with reality and the reality of the situation."
In previous statements, Erdogan claimed that the Russian Minister of Defense and the Russian Chief of Staff ran the Wagner Group in Libya.
