Potential voters are already accustomed to meeting this propaganda, and there is usually nothing special to learn from or about. But it was precisely this kind of banal election video released last week that told a deep and wide story of Israeli society and its internal currents. Not because of special creativity or spectacular production, but because of who created them, and decided to miraculously embrace the symbols and images of the main Zionist stream in the country: the Torah Judaism Party.

The leaders of the ultra-Orthodox Ashkenazi party and its advisers should not be suspected innocently. They are not looking for new audiences, and it is clear that passionate Zionist secularists will not rush to them. The declaration of Ben-Gurion's independence, Netanyahu alongside Trump and the State of Israel as the fulfillment of a 2,000-year-old dream - all directed inward. They are intended to elaborate on warm feelings and pride in the country and its achievements, and on the ultra-Orthodox aspiration for partnership and great involvement in the Great Miracle - even if it was achieved thanks to its harshest opponents of the ultra-Orthodox, and even if noble opponents of the past should be presented.

Torah Judaism, of course, did not abandon its traditional conceptions. The videos emphasize the Torah and its commandments and the fact that the State of Israel is part of a religious continuity, a link in the historical chain that Gd triumphs over. But the message, which expresses a breaking of the harsh ultra-Orthodox line, and overflows with the ultra-Orthodox admiration and appreciation for Israel, cannot be ignored. Give up the lifestyle and the centrality of the Torah - but do try to be more active in society.

This is an excellent news. Less than 30 years ago, in the 1992 election, Torah Jewry's election broadcasts portrayed non-ultra-Orthodox Israel as its rotten culture, failed education, and its youths seduced. The slogan was: "You too are anxious", referring to anxiety about the fate of children in the country. Today, pioneering and honorable pioneers are seen in the party's broadcasts. The slogan may not be stated directly, but the meaning is: "I too am Israeli".
