The Pastetten fellowship boycotted the popular carnival parade in town. She doesn't want an election campaign event.

Pastettes - Whether it's the Ballermann Express, a running party on tour, a rolling saloon or a proper prison with a watchtower that can be lowered - the carriages of the Pastetten fellowship have always been the superlatives of the small carnival parade in the community. This year, the boys have given up their own car for the first time in 15 years.

"We believe that the carnival parade will be used too much as an election event this year," chairman Andreas Wagner explains the boys' decision in a letter. "We heard that parties and groups are planning to sell drinks and set up information stands. All because there is a local election in March, ”it continues. In the coming years it would be the same clubs that keep the event alive. Then you see nothing of the parties and groups. That is not fair to those who build a car every year. “It was not an easy decision for us. But any election advertising has no place in the carnival parade. "

Incidentally, Wagner himself sits on the local council for the community of interests (BIG) and is running for the upcoming elections on list place 1. "Of course, we will be back in 2021 with a mega carnival car and a cool motto," explains the lads boss.

In the town hall you already know the rejection and the position of the boys. "Originally, the CSU wanted to operate a stand, but we got away with it again," says Mayor Cornelia Vogelfänger (CSU). There will be no election campaign activities for her party on Mardi Gras. The Free Voting Community Unity (FWE) has meanwhile given up a similar project, explains municipal councilor Andreas Winner when asked. The Reithofen-Harthofen voters group (WRH) and the Greens also do not want to use Mardi Gras for election campaigns.

Wagner also learned that the political associations are now foregoing the planned actions. But: "We stand by our decision." The boys would appreciate it if the 2026 election were to find a clear arrangement in advance.

Four cars are currently registered for the move. The event starts on February 23 at 1:30 p.m. on the maypole in the center of town. The train starts at 2 p.m. and leads twice back to the maypole via the main and Raiffeisenstrasse. As in previous years, there is then a colorful carnival hustle and bustle. The residents of Hauptstrasse and Raiffeisenstrasse are asked not to park on the sidewalks and streets during this time.
