New town hall on church or parish grounds? The citizens of Fahrenzhausen voted on Sunday. In the end, the count was like a thriller.

New town hall on church or parish grounds? The citizens of Fahrenzhausen voted on Sunday. In the end, the count was like a thriller.

Fahrenzhausen - That was short: In Fahrenzhausen, the final vote was taken on the town hall location on Sunday. Only through the key question did clarity finally emerge: the municipality may continue to pursue the previous plans, the town hall is being built on leasehold.

Citizens' decision in Fahrenzhausen: relaxed day, dramatic evening

Fahrenzhausen had a very relaxed Sunday yesterday: Local councilor Eva Stocker worked in the garden, and Christian Pallauf from the citizens' initiative was at a youth soccer indoor tournament. Nobody blew to the grand finale of the citizens' decision, only a little more than 100 people came to the polling station, most of whom had used the possibility of postal voting. 1998 out of 3967 persons entitled to vote had voted in total - a turnout of just over 50 percent.

The first cross had to be made at the request for the council: 1078 citizens voted in favor of the town hall building on long-term leases on the church property (57.8 percent), 793 opposed. The Fahrenzhausen residents should make the second cross at the citizens' request. With 906 votes in favor, there was also a majority of 50.96 percent - for a town hall next door on municipal grounds. 872 people voted against question number two. Around 100 supporters of the town hall on Kirchengrund had given up the cross on this question. There were also 218 invalid votes.

In the end, the decision was made by the key question. Here a town hall on Kirchengrund received 1060 votes (54.6 percent) and a town hall on parish lot 881. "I would have liked a clearer result," said Mayor Heinrich Stadlbauer, who was not particularly happy with the results.

Mayor Stadlbauer: Everyone has to work together again

It is now his wish that everyone involved accepts the outcome of this decision: "Now we all have to work together again." The municipality had lost time due to the standstill in recent months, but urgently needed the new town hall with more space for the administration.

On the other side was the citizens' initiative yesterday, which was confirmed by the close outcome of the vote. "We are satisfied," said Michael Müller, the BI spokesman. The citizens' decision had a positive effect, “because the citizens wanted to be informed and the other side sat down to do the math. We have achieved our goals. "

Citizens' Initiative is satisfied with the result

In view of the scarce result, Christian Pallauf, looking back, saw it as the right way that BI had not distributed any information leaflets to the citizens: "Otherwise, everything would have rocked up and on."

Müller and Pallauf stand for the municipal council in the Fahrenzhausen local election and emphasized in unison: If they moved into the municipal council, they would accept the result of yesterday evening. "We are all Democrats and accept the result as it is," said Ursula Schwarz.

Eva Stocker was one of those parish councilors who had passionately fought for a town hall on the church grounds in recent weeks. In the past three years she had been a member of a working group that had endorsed this location and paved the way to the new town hall. Even before the vote, she made it clear that if she rescheduled for a town hall on municipal areas, she would reconsider her involvement in this working group. Because then she would have to push ahead with something she was not wholly behind.

Thumbs up: Heinrich Kislinger, Eva Stocker, Robert Kern, Heinrich Stadlbauer, Markus Kistler and Christian Kislinger were relieved about the result.

In all the heated debates of the past few months, Stocker was disappointed with the reputation that local politicians apparently have ahead of them: “We local councils are lumped together with the big politics. We work on a voluntary basis with the aim of leading the community into a good future. "
