Will the rabbi of Jerusalem, Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, spend two weeks in isolation following the Corona virus? The rabbi has been visiting the Jewish community in Singapore since last weekend, and is expected to return to Israel this Wednesday. The rabbi, who served as chief rabbi of Israel, claimed that they were preparing for such a possibility, but so far received no prior information.

His office added that "Maran Rishon Lezion is currently on a strengthening journey in the Singapore community for his return this weekend - the rabbi will consult with the relevant parties and as much as he is advised to do so." If the rabbi is in solitary confinement, he will not be able to fulfill his role, in which, among other things, he gives lessons to the general public.

Concern for Rabbi Amar about being forced to spend two weeks in solitary confinement follows the announcement by the Ministry of Health today that it is expanding home isolation from Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Macau, fearing the spread of the corona virus that has so far claimed the lives of about 1,665 people. The decision, made after a situation assessment this morning, led by Health Minister Jacob Litzman and his team of specialists, decided that from now on, these targets will remain in isolation in their homes until they are completed 14 days from the return date - even if they have no symptoms.

Earlier this evening, hundreds attended the Western Wall for "Chinese People's Medicine", following the Corona virus. The prayer was organized by Safed and the president of the Community Rabbinical Association, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, who noted that "the Chinese people need to know that they are in the heart of the Jewish people." Also in attendance was Raphael Dahan, whose parents are on the Corona ship, and he said he came to pray "for the medicine of my parents and the other Israelis on the ship."

Also in attendance were Rabbi Uri Sharkey, representatives of the Rabbinical Union Association headed by Rabbi Amichai Eliyahu, Chabad emissaries in China, chairman of the Israeli Export Center Adiv Baruch, other rabbis and citizens from China. The event included a prayer for the peace of the Chinese people, in addition to praying in the Chinese language and blowing a shofar and singing "It Will Be This Hour of Mercy."

Those who are still praying are Raphael Dahan from Jerusalem, son of Shimon and Shalva Dahan who are on the Corona ship, and he said, "We are waiting for the results of my parents and other Israelis on the ship, and we will get answers whether or not they are infected. I came here for the amazing prayer and thank Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, "O Israel, to the Association of Community Rabbis and Chabad emissaries for the blessed initiative and I come to pray for the parents' medicine and the other Israelis who will return to Israel healthy and whole."

During the event, Rabbi Eliyahu noted that "so many people came here today, and many others beyond that, proclaimed prayers in the synagogues and schools in their communities. When there is such love in the world, Saint Baruch is opening gates and prayers will be accepted. And that plague will stop over the Chinese people and the entire world. "

Chairman of the Community Rabbinical Association, Rabbi Amichai Eliyahu added: "We cannot remain indifferent to the diseases and deaths that are spreading worldwide due to corona disease. Our heart with the Chinese people who are suffering greatly, but it doesn't stop there. The Jewish people have a responsibility and should be busy being good to the whole world. The power of prayer is immense, and through it we not only try to influence and ask for the Lord to stop the plague, but also create our sense of caring and empathy with the Chinese people. "
