This poll on the OB election 2020 in Munich should scare the CSU: Candidate Kristina Frank is far behind - even behind the AfD candidate.

  • In a survey by Hallo München on the OB election 2020 in Munich , Dieter Reiter ( SPD ) and Katrin Habenschaden ( Greens ) are in the lead.
  • CSU applicant Kristina Frank is in seventh place.
  • AfD applicant Wolfgang Wiehle comes third.

Munich - SPD incumbent Dieter Reiter , Greens candidate Katrin Habenschaden and CSU applicant Kristina Frank - two of these three candidates will probably move into the runoff election in the 2020 Munich OB election. At least that's how it was to be read in the media in the past weeks and months. An election poll by the newspaper Hallo München * regarding the election of the mayor (not for the city council) now provides a completely different picture. And above all, that could put the CSU in an alarm mood.

OB Dieter Reiter (27.51 percent) and challenger Katrin Habenschaden (26.28 percent) are in a head-to-head race. This is not surprising. Finally, OB Reiter can build on an official bonus in Munich; his survey value would be a dream result for the federal SPD. The Greens won 31.2 percent in both the 2018 state elections and the 2019 European elections in the state capital.

For Kristina Frank, however, the mood before the election indicates nothing less than a disaster: the CSU candidate only comes in at 3.70 percent! This puts Frank in seventh place behind the applicants from AfD , Linke , ödp and Bayernpartei !

Poll for the OB election 2020 in Munich: AfD man Wolfgang Wiehle in 3rd place

AfD man Wolfgang Wiehle (a former CSU city councilor ) is the third-strongest candidate in the poll for the OB election with 9.01 percent. Fourth place went to Thomas Lechner ( left ) and fifth place to Richard Progl ( Bayern party ).

Unsurprisingly, the SPD man scores in the men’s poll for the OB election and the Greens candidate in the women. For men, Dieter Reiter is clearly ahead of Katrin Habenschaden with 32.30 percent (22.0 percent). With 32.65 percent, Katrin Habenschaden is a good 8.5 percent ahead of the incumbent mayor of women.

Local elections 2020 in Bavaria: What are the tasks of the mayor?

In the Hello Munich poll, the AfD came in third place overall behind the SPD and the Greens and in almost all categories. The party scores best in percentage terms among the first-time voters . OB candidate Wolfgang Wiehle even achieved a double-digit result here: 15.58 percent of the first voters involved would vote for him. This is surprising, because until now Munich was not considered an AfD stronghold.

According to Hallo München, more than 1,000 people in Munich have so far taken part in the large poll on the OB election. This may not be representative at all, but it could indicate a trend before the local elections on March 15, 2020.
