What a joy to see the Pavillon de l'Arsenal, so often the official showcase of the achievements of the municipality of Anne Hidalgo, taking over a beautiful project by Jean Tiberi! In March 1999, the socialist opposition rebelled against this mayor who wanted to end the "all-car" and proposed two projects, shown in situ under a small tent, aimed at cleaning the bottled face of the most beautiful place in Paris. Bertrand Delanoë then denounced with fright in Liberation an operation of pure electoral propaganda: " The redevelopment of the Concorde aims more to strike the spirits than to favor a redistribution of public space. The Tiberi project was even more radical than the one just developed by Philippe Chiambaretta and the PCA-STREAM agency, at the request of the big companies of the Champs-Élysées Committee. The aim was to reduce vehicle traffic by 80% and make the area around the obelisk a “green” extension of the Tuileries garden.
