Thirty-two civilians, including women and children, were killed in the bombing of the Saudi Air Force in northern Yemen today (Sunday) after a Saudi fighter jet was shot down by Houthi insurgents in the country over the weekend.
Saudi military spokesman Colonel Turkish Al Malik said today that the Saudi coalition is investigating the possibility that fatalities were caused by secondary damage from an attack aimed at covering up the pilots ejected from the downed aircraft.
Yemeni Humanitarian spokeswoman Lisa Granada said of the bombing, saying: "These are horrific attacks. It's a shocking act. So many people have been killed in Yemen in recent days.

Over the weekend, the Houthi rebels in the country were able to bring down, apparently via anti-aircraft missile, a Saudi Air Force tornado, the pilot and navigator that were on the plane were able to escape and probably land safely, but then lost contact.
More than 100,000 people were killed in the five years of the civil war in Yemen, more than 12,000 of them civilians. More than three million people lost their homes as a result of the war and millions more were injured or ill.
