The Construction Industry Council announced a joint effort with the construction industry to promote the "Construction Industry Epidemic Care Action" to support construction workers affected by the new coronavirus epidemic.

The chairman, Mr. Karina Chan, said that due to the development of the epidemic in the Mainland and Hong Kong, the construction industry was widely affected. Both developers, government works departments, builders, subcontractors, materials dealers and frontline workers are facing difficult times. Among them, workers who are generally employed on a casual wage basis are now holding their hands. He hopes that the operation will provide financial and care support to registered workers who have been infected with the new coronavirus or were forced to be quarantined due to an outbreak.

Under the action, the Construction Industry Anti-epidemic Care Action Management Committee will be responsible for raising and managing donations with an initial fundraising target of 20 million yuan.

The quarantine living cost is up to 4,200 yuan, and the hospitalization living cost is 100,000 yuan.

As for cash assistance, it is divided into three items: 1. Registered workers are required by the Department of Health to undergo compulsory isolation and quarantine due to the epidemic. The operation will provide daily living expenses of HK $ 300, with a maximum of 4,200 per person. 2. If a registered worker is unfortunately diagnosed with the new coronavirus, during the hospitalization and sick leave, the operation will provide daily living expenses of HK $ 500, with a maximum of HK $ 100,000 per person. 3. If a registered worker dies unfortunately due to infection with a new coronavirus, the operation will provide a pension of HK $ 100,000 to his immediate family members.
