Now facts should be on the table: Mayors and investors are going on the offensive at the planned aja hotel in Mittenwald.

Mittenwald - A cruise ship that resembles the Titanic plows through Mittenwald and releases a huge wave that devours everything. This horror picture draws Dr. Christian Edlhuber in his caricature on the subject of the aja hotel of the Deutsche Seereederei (DSR), for which the artistic dentist intended the role of the all-down deep-sea steamer. A clear message from Edlhuber, who is known to stand for the free voters in the upcoming local elections and is not necessarily one of the closest friends of Mayor Adolf Hornsteiner (CSU) - not least because of his Kranzberg offensive, which did not convince the summit lift operator Edlhuber ,

Hornsteiner's vision of an aja hotel on the parish-owned property between the town hall and the train station doesn't impress Edlhuber either. But this is not alone: Concerned hoteliers and landlords - most of them in the haze of free voters - are storming the 50 million euro project with their "interest group against a bed castle in Mittenwald". These should be appeased tomorrow at a public information office in the TSV hall (starting at 8 p.m. / admission 7.30 p.m.), at best they will be convinced. At least that is what the mayor hopes, who has conjured up a very hot topic shortly before the local elections. He does not want to express himself specifically about tomorrow. "I am looking forward to a full hall." The town hall chief wants to leave it at that.

"Quite normal process"

The mayor received support in the presentation of the apparently controversial 400-bed resort from representatives of the Deutsche Seereederei, who would like to make this investment in Mittenwald. One of them is Lutz Weller (Managing Director DSR-Immobilien-GmbH). Did he expect so much headwind? "It is the norm and is a completely normal process." Especially when it comes to projects of this dimension. What disturbs businessman Weller is the "pitch of the opponents" who speak of a "bed castle" and a "mass hotel" in the planned aja complex. Weller is thus targeting the statements made by Gröblalm host Martin Leuthner, one of the spokespersons for the community of interests. The DSR managing director is not particularly pleased that the aja project has become a political issue just four weeks before the local elections. "We don't like that at all." And if this results in a public decision? "That would not knock us over either." However, one thing Weller clarifies emphatically: "We are not in the boos role." On the contrary: "We believe that our concept fits there."

He would like to make this clear at tomorrow's citizens' forum, if desired. This is not the first time for the representatives of the Deutsche Seereederei. Not least because of the harsh statements in advance, Weller hopes for "a fair and factual discussion". However, he can understand fears and doubts - especially if it is something completely new. The DSR does not want one thing: plowing through Mittenwald like an ocean liner.
