Continuing their offensive with bombs and shells against enemy positions, Syrian forces have regained control of a dozen localities in recent days around Aleppo, the country's second city in north-western Syria .
Symbolic cities of opposition to Bashar al-Assad, like Hanadan and Hraytan, fell, without fighting, the rebels having withdrawn shortly before. Some fiefdoms had been in the hands of insurgents since 2012, such as military base 46, only 12 kilometers from Aleppo, where Turkish forces, allies of the insurgents, were positioned.

On Sunday alone, "the pre-regime regained control of an entire area west of Aleppo, while for eight years they could not capture a village," said Rami Abdel Rahman, director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), based in London.
