Miracle solution or dangerous dead end? In January 2019, the announcement of the creation of a Muslim Association for Islam in France created a small event. Some saw it as a future major player, dubbed by the Élysée, or even the competitor of a weakened CFCM. Its inspiration, Hakim El Karoui, is then known for two reports from the Montaigne Institute: "A French Islam is possible" in 2016 and "The factory of Islamism" in 2018. Essayist and strategy consultant, this former member of the Raffarin firm and ex-collaborator of the Rothschild bank, where he would have crossed Emmanuel Macron, is also author of L'Islam, une religion française (Gallimard). In his remarks and in his daily column L'Opinion , he regularly warns against Islamism. For him, AMIF is notably a “regulator” of opaque markets such as that of pilgrimage, halal or other economic activities related to Islam, collecting money to reinvest it in independence and transparency.
