There are currently 21 Hong Kong residents confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus on the "Diamond Princess" cruise ship anchored in Yokohama, Japan. The Hong Kong government is arranging charter flights to carry Hong Kong residents on board for free quarantine. The team of Deputy Director of Security Bureau Zhiguang Guang, Director of Immigration Department Zeng Guowei and the Department of Health went to Yokohama, Japan yesterday (17th) to assist Hong Kong people on the Diamond Princess cruise ship. Chief Executive Lin Zheng Yue'e said before attending the executive conference this morning (17th) that there are currently 352 Hong Kong people on the "Princess Diamond" and they will pick them up as soon as possible. Yesterday, 30 advance team members have been sent to Tokyo, Japan. Another 30 people were dispatched, and the Immigration Department has now contacted 97% of the Hong Kong Diamond Princess. However, whether they can start on schedule depends on whether the Japanese authorities can arrange all Hong Kong people to leave. Lin Zheng also pointed out that the "Princess Diamond" Hong Kong people will need to undergo compulsory quarantine on the 14th after returning to Hong Kong. After arriving in Hong Kong, they will be sent to the quarantine center because of the risks involved. In addition, Lin Zheng pointed out that the government applied to the Legislative Council Finance Committee for funding for the Epidemic Prevention Fund on Friday, with a revised appropriation of about 28 billion Hong Kong dollars, which is more than the 25 billion yuan announced recently.
