Government parking lots have always been sold on a first-come, first-served basis. However, there are not enough berths in Hong Kong. Parking lots in some areas are often queued up on the day of monthly tickets. The Transport Department said today that in order to reduce the risk of new coronavirus spreading in the community, special arrangements will be implemented for the sale of monthly parking tickets for March in seven government public car parks.

Existing tenants can purchase next month's monthly tickets prior to 9pm on February 22

A spokesman for the Transport Department said that holders of a monthly pass for a private car / van, a motorcycle or a taxi in February would be given priority to purchase a monthly pass for the same vehicle category in March. Those eligible monthly pass holders must complete the procedures for purchasing March monthly pass at the payment counter of the relevant parking lot before 9 pm on February 22. If the person concerned does not purchase a monthly pass before the time specified above, it will be deemed to have automatically waived the purchase of a March pass.

The remaining unsold March monthly passes for private cars / vans will be sold to the public on a first-come-first-served basis at 7.30 am on February 23 at the parking lot payment counters, while the remaining unsold motorcycles and taxis March monthly tickets are on sale at 7.30am on February 24th.

The seven car parks are the Star Car Park, City Hall Car Park, Tin Hau Car Park, Shaukeiwan Car Park, Aberdeen Car Park, Kwai Fong Car Park and Tsuen Wan Car Park. Car park operators will post notices in car parks to inform drivers of special arrangements in advance. Depending on the development of the epidemic, the Transport Department will review the sale of monthly parking tickets for April and make announcements when necessary.
