The Federation ’s legislative council, Lu Weixiong, said that the main appeal of the help cases was to return to Hong Kong as "human nature" and "impossible to stay indefinitely." Mr. Qiu, a family member, said that his wife's uncle passed away and she did it for nothing. When he went to Hubei, he said, "Everyone has a reason to return." Mr. Qiu pointed out that his wife has no time to return to Hong Kong, affecting family income. The family member, Mr. Chen, said that the high-speed rail tickets ordered by his family could not be rushed to leave before the customs clearance in the morning. His family reported that he had called the Wuhan Office many times but no one answered.

Suggest government set up WeChat contact method

Mai Meijuan, a member of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions, said that only when the local Hong Kong officials can be contacted can they be "reassured", so the government is suggested to set up a WeChat contact method in addition to the telephone hotline. The FTU believes that the government should assist the Hong Kong residents stranded in Hubei as soon as possible, especially the limited assistance for the elderly, pregnant women, children and chronically ill patients to return to Hong Kong in a safe and orderly manner. It also requires the government to take care of the basic living needs of the stranded Hong Kong people and provide essentials, such as emergency medicines and masks, and to deliver related materials to the stranded Hong Kong people as soon as possible through a unified mechanism.

Need to coordinate transportation with the Hubei Provincial Government

Chief Executive Lin Zheng Yue'e was asked today (18th) whether he would consider arranging for high-speed rail to pick up Hong Kong people in Hubei Province. Lin Zheng pointed out that it is more difficult because the Hong Kong high-speed rail station has been closed and the railway needs a set of sanitary equipment to ensure safety. Therefore, the high-speed rail scheme will not be considered for the time being. Nie Dequan, director of the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau, said on February 15 that the government has been studying the possibility of returning stranded Hong Kong residents, but it needs to ensure that Hong Kong has sufficient quarantine places to accommodate the group of people and coordinate transportation with the Hubei provincial government To start the program.
