The explosion of a public transport vehicle traveling on a highway in southwest Colombia on Monday evening left seven dead and 11 injured, authorities said, excluding the possibility of an attack. The van exploded in Rosas, Cauca, damaging other vehicles, said a military official, General Jorge Hoyos, at a press conference.

At first, the Ombudsman condemned an alleged “car bomb attack” on Twitter as “a cruel and blind act” , as did the local United Nations human rights office, but this version was immediately denied by the Colombian military high command.
"This is not an attack, it is a public transport vehicle which went from Pasto to Cali and which exploded while driving," said General Hoyos from the city of Popayán (southwest). According to the general, a fire spread to the cars in front of and behind the van.
