The communities around Lake Tegernsee - above all Bad Wiessee - put a lot of money into tourism every year. In Wiessee there was now the green light for the TTT household.

Bad Wiessee - The shareholder amounts should not increase. The municipalities around the lake had given the TTT this condition. Managing director Christian Kausch explained in the Wiesseer municipal council that unanimously approved the budget. However, the tourism chief was given some food for thought about future funding.

The TTT's total budget is just under 4.5 million euros this year. 48 percent of this is used for marketing, 36 percent for guests and providers (including tourist information), 16 percent for administration. Bad Wiessee contributes around EUR 1.1 million to bear funding for shareholder financing. "We saved 2.5 employees in the administration", Kausch made clear at the council meeting. There is a clear will to reduce costs. The TTT boss made it clear that the tourist information in Kreuth and Bad Wiessee now have to manage with fewer staff.

The outgoing Vice Mayor Robert Huber (SPD), who had repeatedly criticized the high amounts for tourism in the past and was the driving force behind the increase in the Wiesseer tourist tax (we reported), was also thoughtful this time. "What does tourism bring us? What does it cost us? ”These things have to be counted down, said Huber. Example: Advent magic. Although this is extremely successful, as the TTT's annual report showed, it was also a “mad effort” in financial and personal terms, explained Huber. Tourism would generate 300 million euros in the Tegernsee Valley alone. A company like the TTT must be able to organize and finance itself, said the outgoing Vice Mayor.

Huber spoke from the soul of his colleague Jupp Brenner (Wiesseer Block). When the valley-wide community was founded, it was the aim that all the tourist offices should merge under one roof and the communities should be marketed from a single source. Now all of the financing will be dumped on the shoulders of the municipalities, while the tourism companies are left out, complained Brenner. "I think that the private sector should also bring money into the TTT," said the local council.

Florian Sareiter (CSU) was satisfied with Kausch's annual report and found: "The TTT is the showpiece of valley-wide cooperation." With a view to the ongoing and impending construction sites in the village, Sareiter wanted to know from the tourism manager: "How do we want us support the TTT to get through this phase as best as possible? ”Kausch admitted that the lively construction work“ definitely costs guests ”. One tries to intercept all complaints and to educate both the guest and the host.

Tourism budget: The municipalities pay

The five valley municipalities, as shareholders of TTT, pay the following contributions (rounded) for the 2020 budget: Bad Wiessee: 1.1 million euros; Rottach-Egern: 833,000 euros; Tegernsee: 545,000 euros; Kreuth: 463,000 euros, Gmund: 193,000 euros.

Tourism on Lake Tegernsee: the most successful events

TTT managing director Christian Kausch also reported on the past tourism year. Among other things, he reviewed the most successful events:

In addition to the Jäger Ski World Cup (around 1,000 overnight stays generated), the Advent magic with its three markets and the shuttle boat ("the number of overnight stays has risen so much that one can no longer speak of a low season") and international chess -Master ("that brings a high added value"). Kausch described the renewal of the agreement with maritime shipping on free guest cruises and the merging of the host directories in the district as milestones in 2019. As far as Bad Wiessee is concerned, the new iodine sulfur bath is also an important topic for the TTT, assured Kausch. "We are pushing marketing with it." After the health year had been declared in the valley this year, the bathhouse played a central role. “The iodine bath is one of our main topics,” said Kausch.
