Women's and men's choice at the dance evening: It is hard to imagine today that a couple gets to know each other in this way and then stays together forever.
Aich - It worked well for Monika and Matthias Süßmair over 60 years ago. In 1958, Aicherin and Hörbacher met at a forest festival in Nannhofen. Two years later they said yes. Now the couple celebrated their diamond wedding with daughter Monika. City Councilor Franz Höfelsauer also sent congratulations.
With the wedding in 1960, 24-year-old Matthias Süßmair moved to Aich, where his Monika was born. A year later, daughter Gertrud is born. Matthias Süßmair takes over his father-in-law's farm more and more while at the same time completing an apprenticeship as an installer. In 1966 daughter Monika was born. Four years later, the Süßmairs adopted three-year-old Bettina, the cousin of her two daughters, because of a stroke of fate within the family. The Dreimäderlhaus is complete.
After the marriage, Matthias Süßmair moved to his wife's farm in Aich.
The day in Aich begins early in the morning at four in the morning. First of all, the couple looks after up to 24 dairy cows. Matthias Süßmair then goes to Germering, where he works as a heating installer. His wife takes care of the children at home as well as the house and yard.
There is not much time to go on vacation. “When I was away, I always had the yard in the back of my mind,” says Matthias Süßmair. The family travels to Austria a few times and spends a few hours in nature - for example at the foot of the Salzburg Schafberg.
When the 84-year-old retires today, he also gives up farming. Since then, the couple has been enjoying the peace. In summer, Monika Süßmair (85) often helps her daughter to look after the large garden on the farm estate. “We have been together for 60 years now. And always with the same one, ”jokes Matthias Süßmair. Divorce was out of the question. "Nothing better comes after," says the 84-year-old and laughs.
