The municipal elections in the Dominican Republic, suspended due to a flaw in the electronic voting system, will take place on Sunday March 15 and the vote will be carried out manually, AFP said Monday from official sources.
" Municipal elections will be held in the Dominican Republic on Sunday, March 15, 2020, " said Ramon Hilario Espiñeira, secretary general of the Central Election Commission, while specifying the voting procedure.

Scheduled for Sunday, the municipal elections were suspended because all the candidates did not appear on the screens of electoral machines in " about half " of the polling stations.
" If a ballot paper is incomplete (and does not represent) all of the parties, this election cannot be held for elementary reasons ", said the president of the electoral authority, Julio César Castaños, assuring that 'a' detailed investigation 'was to be launched.
This flaw occurs three months before the presidential election, scheduled for May 17 in the Dominican Republic.
