Premiere in Geretsried: Mayor Michael Müller gave the tour guide through four districts. The bus drove through the city's “hotspots” in about an hour and a half.

Geretsried - It was a premiere that was very popular. For the first time, the Geretsrieder CSU rented a large bus that drove the "hotspots" of the city, which was long in terms of area, on Friday. The moderation of the approximately one and a half hour tour was carried out by Mayor Michael Müller, who will run again for this office on March 15. "The 55 seats for interested citizens were quickly taken: we even had to create a waiting list," said organizer and CSU councilor Dr. Sabine Gus-Mayer.

Kick-off at the future Geltinger S-Bahn station

The tour group made its first stop between the St. Benedikt kindergarten and the traffic training area on Leitenstrasse. The future Geltinger S-Bahn station is to be built within sight. "This will also create enormous settlement pressure," predicts Müller. He wanted to largely preserve the still existing green belt and prevent the surrounding areas - which belong to one third Geretsried and two thirds Wolfratshausen - from being fully developed. "Gelting should remain an independent place and not be swallowed by the surrounding cities," clarified Müller.

Via the B11 to Geretsrieder Süd

Shortly after the northern entrance to the Blumenstrasse, the B11 is to be relocated to the Schwaigwaller Hang and expanded to four lanes up to the Böhmwiese before turning back into the previous route at Tattenkofener Strasse. Müller only briefly discussed the future of the Böhm meadow. "The new city council will decide on the development there," he said. According to the town hall boss, a mixed form of residential use and cultural facilities could arise in addition to the S-Bahn station.

In stone: new challenges

In front of the Penny discounter in Stein, which closed in a few months, the bus driver pressed the brakes again. "The city cannot intervene here, but it can create favorable conditions for subsequent use," explained Müller. A possible approach for him would be to pivot the street so that a discounter operator would have even more sales space. Müller hopes that the planned community center and youth center will be upgraded, which, as reported, is to become an important meeting point.

Terminal station of the S7

Much commuting from Dietramszell, Bad Heilbrunn, Königsdorf and other municipalities awaits Müller in front of the future terminus of the S7, which will be built in a forest between Jeschkenstrasse and Richard-Wagner-Strasse on the Königsdorfer corridor. Efficient access roads are just as necessary as the modernization of the former Geretsried settlement. Contrary to some forecasts, the town hall chief does not expect the population to increase to 36,000 in the next 16 years: "I think 30,000 is realistic."

Across the indoor pool to the "New Center"

In addition to a completely renovated middle school and an indoor swimming pool, Geretsried families should also have new daycare centers and a third primary school near the school center. According to Müller, a “Volksportpark” could be built around the old indoor pool. The retail trade will consequently be concentrated in the “New Center” around Karl-Lederer-Platz and Egerlandstrasse. “It is important to create frequency here so that small businesses can also settle next to discounters,” he explained to the other passengers.

Banater street and commercial areas

Not every neighboring company likes the fact that 768 apartments are being built on the former Lorenz site. "The Uniccomp GmbH, which belongs to the Bauer Group, will certainly complain", Müller is under no illusions. He still considers the creation of living space to be indispensable. The tour ends at Gasthof Alter Wirth with a detour to the two Geltingen industrial areas and a drive along the newly developed Leitenstrasse. Here the bus guests had time to talk to the mayor about their impressions. All ages were talkative. "I found it exciting to see the connections: I was particularly interested in the subjects of schools and the S-Bahn - the Geltingen industrial area was less interested," summarized the experience of twelve-year-old Felicitas Pietig.

But Mayor Michael Müller (CSU) has challengers: Wolfgang Werner (SPD), Larry Terwey (FDP) and Martina Raschke (Greens) also want to be City Councilor in Geretsried.
