Married and Arrimadas approach positions to go together to the elections in the Basque Country, but not in Galicia

Citizens renounces the name of Best United for the Galician candidacy but still without agreement

The leader of the PP, Pablo Casado, and the Parliamentary spokeswoman for Citizens, Inés Arrimadas, have approached positions to present themselves together to the elections of the Basque Country on April 5, but still do not reach an agreement for those of Galicia. The meeting in the Congress on Tuesday has been cordial, according to Inés Arrimadas, but "continues the pitfall in Galicia."

Contacts between the PP and Citizens (Cs) have been rather scarce since last Tuesday's meeting between the popular general secretary, Teodoro García Egea, and the secretary general of the parliamentary group of Cs, José María Espejo. Given the imminence of the deadline to register the coalitions in the Basque Country and Galicia, which ends this week, Arrimadas has taken the initiative and will try to personally disguise the situation with Alberto Núñez Feijóo.

The pitfall is Galicia, because the PP refuses an electoral coalition and Cs rejects its offer to integrate leaders into its ranks. Feijóo's refusal to sign a coalition with Citizens has been backed on Tuesday by Casado who, as the president of the Xunta, has insisted that the PP is "a brand that already brings together the entire center-right electorate in its acronym", stressed the popular leader in an interview in EsRadio. Citizens, however, refuses to subsume under the abbreviations of the PP because it claims its autonomy as a party. Sources from his leadership insist that they will not be integrated into Feijóo's lists and if it is not possible the coalition will be presented alone. The formation has launched its internal primaries to elect the candidates, who are voted next weekend. The journalist Beatriz Pino, a member of the manager, will be the official candidate.

Citizens only asks the PP for an electoral coalition as a legal formula to present themselves jointly to the polls. It just puts more conditions. In the letter sent by the president of the management of Cs, Manuel Garacía Bofill, to the PP and Feijóo states in writing that the party "renounces (...) that the coalition receives a different name (as Best United) to the that make up the acronym of the signatory parties. " That is, the ballot could be headed as PP-Cs. He also assumes that Feijóo is the candidate and does not claim specific positions on the lists. Cs offers "an attitude of loyal collaboration" in the legislature, although the two parties will form different parliamentary groups. That is, it commits itself to unity of vote except for one exception: the vote in conscience of its deputies "for all moral issues, particularly those related to the protection of individual rights," says the Bofill letter.

Arrimadas also insists that the pact encompasses the three autonomous communities that hold elections in 2020: Galicia, the Basque Country and Catalonia. "I hope that the PP reflects and that we can make an electoral coalition in the three territories, obviously adapted to each one," said the spokeswoman on Tuesday. Sources of Cs affect that if the PP does not accept the global pact they will not sign it in any territory, although in public Cs has avoided defining the pact to three as a red line.

Cs already speaks of a coalition "of Cs and PP", in the words of this Tuesday of Arrimadas, although at the beginning its offer was a "cross-ideological and constitutionalist" candidacy that was not intended as a sum of acronyms.
