Valentina Matviyenko, President of the Federation Council in Russia, confirmed that Syria has the full right to fight terrorist organizations and that no one can prevent it from liberating its soil from terrorists.

"The Turkish side has not succeeded in implementing its obligations within the Sochi agreements," Matviyenko told reporters during a visit to Zambia today, adding that "the main essence of the Sochi agreements is to achieve a ceasefire and separate civilians from terrorists, as well as the establishment of a zone to reduce the escalation."

Matviyenko stated that the Syrian government wants to completely purify the Syrian territories from the terrorists, noting that the guarantor countries in the Astana process confirmed their support for Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Matviyenko considered that the agreements reached in Sochi on Idlib have not been exhausted yet, noting that there is no alternative to them.

Yesterday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated the need to eliminate terrorist organizations in Idlib, calling on the Turkish regime to implement its obligations under the Sochi Agreement.

The Sochi Agreement affirms the necessity to continue combating terrorism in Syria in all its forms and manifestations and is part of the previous agreements on areas of de-escalation that resulted from the Astana track since the beginning of the year 2017 and was based mainly on commitment to the sovereignty, unity and integrity of Syrian lands and the liberation of all Syrian lands from terrorism and from any military presence Illegal alien.
