The outgoing mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo and a dozen mayors of the PS or PCF suburbs undertook on Tuesday to work together beyond the borders of their commune on projects relating to mobility, the environment or housing, as part municipal.

"We have long realized that our destinies are linked and that there are subjects on which we cannot not work together," explained Anne Hidalgo, candidate for her re-election, during the presentation in Pantin (Seine -Saint-Denis) of this project called "Greater Paris in common", in reference to Anne Hidalgo's list "Paris in common".

Among the signatories are notably the socialist mayors of Cachan and Boissy-Saint-Léger (Val-de-Marne) as well as those of Bondy, Pantin, Pré Saint-Gervais, Les Lilas, Clichy-sous-bois and Bagnolet in Seine-Saint-Denis.

The communist mayor of Montreuil and the PS president of the Seine-Saint-Denis departmental council also approved the project.

Regarding the issue of air pollution in the metropolis, Anne Hidalgo considered it futile to want to deal with this phenomenon "everyone in their town".

Among the signatories' commitments are the transformation of the gates of Paris into large squares, to encourage the passage of residents on foot or by bicycle, the construction in the municipalities of segments of an Express Bicycle Network and green networks to cross the suburbs. foot, wheelchair or bicycle.

The project also plans to transform the ring road and urban highways into urban green boulevards, around twenty bathing sites on the Seine, the Marne and the canals.

For housing, a metropolitan solidarity land organization and a metropolitan rent framework would be launched to lower the price of housing.

Several candidates for mayor of Paris have made Grand Paris one of the strong themes of their program. Cédric Villani, dissident LREM, proposed to push back the borders of the capital to neighboring municipalities and the election of a mayor of Greater Paris.

Gaspard Gantzer also considers that the question of the borders of Paris is the real issue of these municipal elections.

But for Anne Hidalgo the solution does not go through a new institutional reform but the multiplication of joint projects between Paris and its neighbors.
