Netanyahu? They want to replace the people

Much of the hostility toward Netanyahu reflects hatred toward his voters. Yes, I know that this argument, in relation to Likud or its leaders, is repeated in every election since '77 (and, frankly, before). I also know that this argument is used by Likud propaganda, and conversely it also comes from leftist, center, or movement for "statehood", which basically says "we have no problem with Likud perceptions, we have problem with statehood" .

What does "loss of statehood" mean? Some point to "a prime minister with three indictments," others mention Bittan, Amsalem, Regev, Ohana - of course implicitly compared to the Likud princes of yore. Yes, once upon a time, they called Likud voters Chachchachim with Eastern movements.

And rightly, it is customary to say that those who speak of Orientalism are racist in their own right. Today we are all Israeli, so why stir the sect? Certainly, we are all Israelis, but there are those who consistently mark Israelis who came from Arab countries as less enlightened and less intelligent, and most of all as captives of a leader who is not interested in them. These are the circles that have been ignored for years by the possibility that another public in the nation, say about a million people, think that they are not advancing, that they are in the trend, that if the circles that despise them take power - they will be returned and the contempt will be sharper and more visible than ever.

The same circles are angry (and rightly so) whenever anyone dares to criticize Arab citizens for "choosing who offends them" (that is, on the joint list), but without being confused, the myth that Likud voters must be screwed over and over again is repeated. Knocks them. "

"But Netanyahu is Ashkenazi from Caesarea," they like to disparage some sophisticated paradox: Why is it that "Second Israel" actually supports an Ashkenazi man, a privilege, an elite man? Well, Likud-backed Mizrahim know exactly who the man is, from the Rehavia neighborhood, through MIT to the Caesarea villa. They do not delude themselves that it is "one of their own" in the sociological sense, but it marks the era when the public who despise it can integrate and move forward. What place do they have in the neo-Mapaminiks group, which consists of elites who are struggling to come to terms with the social change that has taken place in Israel? A change that may be due to Bitan, Amsalem, Ohana and the other Mizrahi leaders who can advance to Likud institutions, and from there to the Knesset. Want to replace Netanyahu - or replace the people.

The effort to paint Likud voters as a blind herd (though language and name are willing to acknowledge that it also has some "normative citizens") is patronizing, indicating a lack of interest in dialogue. The fact that the same group does not explain in concrete terms what its path is better than the one that put the "screwed up" on a path of social and political progress shows that there is no real desire to produce an alternative, but to bring back an ornament, and set the new Mapai. The Likud voters do not offer a bright, containable and promotional idea - all that remains is to hear the screams, and this contempt they will try to ward off.
