Despite the fact that President Alberto Fernández included the Gondolas law in the extraordinary agenda, and that the project obtained an opinion on Tuesday in the Senate General Legislation Committee, the vote was pending for the regular session, from of March.

Without the signatures of Juntos por el Cambio -which asked for another week of time to discuss and listen to SMEs and supermarkets- the Frente de Todos used their number to dispatch the text - as it left Deputies - and leave it ready to be treated in the enclosure.

"The idea and spirit of the law is very good and more at the moment, but we know that it can be improved . We have received many messages from cameras and supermarkets expressing the possibility," said the radical, Pamela Verasay.

"We must provide the National Executive Power today with the tools to improve competitiveness, which will be seen in its impact in more advantageous terms for the consumer. This law is important, although every consumer defense law is perfectible once it begins to work, "replied the Peronist Mario Pais.

Despite getting a green light in commission, the ruling party will not include the initiative in the special session agenda that the Senate will carry out on Thursday to approve the specifications of the ambassadors and withdraw those of the 198 judges and prosecutors, for the most part, during the government of Mauricio Macri.

"The times are not given. The seven-day period of validity of the opinion is not met," they said officially from the FdT. In any case, as with other major issues, such as the Emergency Law, it could be dealt with on tables. But for that, since two thirds of the votes are required, a broad consensus is needed and this would not be the case. "JxC is not going to give that number," FdT sources said.

However, from JxC they assure that when it is treated in the enclosure, although they did not accompany the opinion and they will ask for changes, they will vote in favor.

Thus, the law of Gondolas will be pending for ordinary sessions. "We still don't have a date, but it will be after the 1st (March)," the president of the General Legislation Commission, Ana Almirón, responded during the meeting.

The law of Gondolas was approved in November in Deputies 182 affirmative votes and 17 abstentions.

The project establishes that the exhibition of products in gondolas of a supplier or business group cannot exceed 30% of the available space that it shares with products of similar characteristics, and the participation in the gondola, in addition, must involve no less than five suppliers or business groups.

The text also requires that 25% of the space be guaranteed for products of small national enterprises and cooperatives and 5% for products originated by indigenous people or the popular economy.
