The Minister of Labor of the Nation, Claudio Moroni, opened the door to the possibility of increasing the retirement age, warning on Tuesday that life expectancy "grows every year", so the pension systems "will have to adapt. "

Consulted in an interview with radio La Red about the possibility of changing the retirement age from 60 to 65 years in women and from 65 to 67 years in men, the official replied that "at some point that discussion we will have to give it."

"Perhaps thinking of some gradual scheme, because the current ages were put many years ago and the reality is that today life expectancy grows every year, so that the pension systems are going to have to adapt to that, because otherwise it's going to be very difficult, "he argued.

Anyway, said Moroni, there are no deadlines to modify the scheme in the short term.

"The modifications must be made calmly and with time. That they are happening, because they are heavy things to move and that they have a lot of inertia because of their expense. You have to think it through, discuss it well and make corrections so as not to reach a point make us unsustainable . I don't know when we will define it, but we have to discuss it, "he added.

On the other hand, the minister said he is "timidly optimistic" about the revival of employment in some sectors, said that the joint negotiations "are developing reasonably well" without a "level of significant conflict" and announced that between March and April will convene to the Salary Council.
