Victims of Father Karadima in Chile claim Francisco 2:01
(CNN Spanish) - A group of survivors of sexual abuse by members of the Congregation of the Marist Brothers of Chile sent a letter to Monsignor Charles Scicluna to the Vatican where they claim that he has not fulfilled the promise he made on March 1 of 2018 to “accelerate canonical processes, understanding that one of the basic principles of justice is that it arrives on time”.
Two years ago Monsignor Scicluna, promoter of the justice of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, visited Chile by order of Pope Francis to inquire into an alleged cover-up of the abuses committed by the priest Fernando Karadima. On that visit, Scicluna met with some of the victims and it was in that meeting where, according to the victims, there was a verbal commitment to advance the investigation.

In the letter published on Monday, the group argues that “the indescribable facts of procrastination and silence by the Vatican State, while some of us die and / or progressively deteriorate their quality of life associated with the devastating consequences of ecclesiastical abuse, is a new betrayal of unforgivable trust. ”
CNN has tried unsuccessfully to obtain a reaction from the Vatican.
In May 2018, Monsignor Scicluna handed the Pope a document with the interviews he had with the victims.
In 2011, Father Fernando Karadima was found guilty by the Vatican of several charges of sexual abuse and sentenced to a life of penance and prayer. On September 28, the Pope expelled Karadima from the priesthood. Karadima always defended his fire.
