The planned facility for assisted living in the vicinity of the Kraillinger Caritas old people's home continues to face bitter resistance from some of the population. The municipal council rejected a citizens' application to preserve the forest on Tuesday - due to a formal error.

Krailling - Whether the Caritas retirement home on Rudolf-von-Hirsch-Strasse will create 38 apartments suitable for senior citizens for assisted living will ultimately be decided by the new municipal council. The majority of the current committee got the development plan on the road in October last year. However, the resistance against the clearing of 5000 square meters of forest in the landscape protection area does not stop. On Tuesday, the local council received a citizens' application in which 112 Kraillinger demand that the local government and the local council are actively committed to the preservation of the forest and the decision to change the land use plan is withdrawn. It is based on the fact that the municipal council proclaimed the "climate crisis" in December (we reported). Accordingly, in future he will have to consider the effects on the climate as well as ecological, social and economic sustainability in all his decisions.

Not against assisted living, only against location

The citizens' application emphasizes that they are not opposed to the assisted living project, but only against the location and the associated clearing of the forest. This contributes to climate protection and is an important habitat for animal species and plants. As an alternative location for assisted living, an extension to the forest sanatorium, the use of the property at Hubertusstrasse 2 or the former Manhart property are being discussed.

No appointment of representatives

In terms of content, the request was not dealt with at the Council meeting because the administration considered that there was a formal error. Although there are Konrad Kraft and Hannelore Schmid, the chairman of the Krailling Citizens 'Initiative (BIK), two signatories to the citizens' application, and Wilfried Tettweiler, there is no addressee, but there are no representatives of the three people. According to a lawyer, this is mandatory under the municipal code. The citizens' application was therefore "not curable", explained head of office Sandra Sona.

Andrea Schulte-Krauss (Greens) did not want to accept that. "We should find a solution so that the application is treatable." A view that Mathias Walterspiel (CSU Group) did not share. The local council could not act against the law. Against the votes of the Greens, the municipal council declared the citizens' application inadmissible due to the lack of appointment of representatives and refused treatment.

After the meeting, Konrad Kraft told our newspaper that he did not believe that the rejection was covered by the municipal code. He would have this checked by a lawyer and, if necessary, submit a regulatory complaint. If everything is right, he wants to submit the amended application again.
