Frechen - This sum would have blown up the school account: Because of a previously unexplained numerical error, the job center in Frechen wanted to transfer ten trillion euros to a school in the Rhein-Erft district (North Rhine-Westphalia). In November last year, an employee created a corresponding form. The Federal Employment Agency in Nuremberg was just able to stop the enormous transfer, as Frechen's Job Center managing director Herbert Botz reported on Wednesday.
Transfer error: Jobcenter transfers almost ten trillion euros to school
The school was supposed to get only 100 euros in December. This should be the first installment of 195 euros that should support a student's parents under the Education and Participation Act at the cost of a school trip. Botz said that the process would break down. Instead of 195 euros, it suddenly went to ten trillion, a one with 13 zeros. How 100 could become 10,000,000,000,000 will now be examined.
How did the breakdown happen? "Computer may have hung up"
The boss of the job center tried to explain the piquant mistake to bild.de: “ A computer may have hung up .” Incidentally, there was no cross-check. Such a procedure is only required from an amount of 500 euros.
Furthermore, Botz affirmed that none of his employees had "attempted to commit fraud or do business in their own pockets." The team at the job center should nevertheless be made more aware of the use of transfers in the near future.
