Dr. Atef Al-Naddaf, Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, discussed with a delegation from the World Food Program headed by Corin Fleischer, representative and regional director of the program, ways to enhance and develop cooperation relations between the two sides and open new horizons for it.

During the meeting held today, current and future projects that could be set up and implemented in Syria were discussed in light of the current economic reality and economic challenges that Syria is witnessing as a result of the economic blockade and unilateral coercive measures against the Syrian people.

Minister Al-Naddaf gave an explanation of the losses and damages that were caused to the economic structure and economic activities in Syria due to terrorism, unjust coercive measures unilaterally, which hindered the flow of goods and materials, the activity of owners of commercial and industrial activities and the work of banks and impeded the implementation of government plans and programs aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens.

He pointed to the priorities and requirements required for cooperation with the World Food Program, expressing his appreciation for this cooperation in implementing joint programs aimed at improving and developing the economic situation and securing the needs of citizens, stressing the government's keenness to provide various forms of support and support for the activities of the program in a manner that ensures the proper implementation of the support programs carried out by it. In Syria and working to find a common mechanism that facilitates the mission and role of the program.

In turn, Fleischer stressed the World Food Program's keenness to continue working hand in hand with Syria in implementing programs that contribute to achieving food security and providing the necessary citizens' requirements in cooperation with donor countries and finding an effective mechanism to support the basic services system in Syria according to the capabilities and powers available to the program, noting that it understands the implications Unilateral economic measures on all groups of the people in Syria without exception.

On his part, Aref Al-Hussein, Program Director of the Rome Office, asked about the basic priorities and needs needed to implement and start the required programs and to explain them to the relevant donors and how to implement them and the available capabilities to ensure proper implementation and provide the required support.
