Odd operation: opened skullcap - German musician plays violin during surgery

The tumor was diagnosed in 2013 by the musician born in Hesse. However, because it started to grow rapidly last year, the doctors opted for surgical removal. At this point the tumor was already measuring the size of a golf ball.

Because the tumor was unfortunately very close to the regions of the brain that are responsible for the fine motor skills of the hands and fingers , the gifted violinist Schlimmmes feared: could she possibly never play the violin again? That was the danger.

The 57-year-old played two of the five and a half hours of surgery. This was not easy, “because my head was fixed. If the doctors had only slipped a millimeter, that would have changed my whole life . ”The doctors did an impeccable job, which is why Dagmar Turner was released after three days and now even plays with her orchestra again.

Turner has been playing the violin since she was ten. The music means "everything", as the 57-year-old claims. "We knew how important violin playing was for Dagmar," explains Professor Ashkan. A total of 90 percent of the tumor was removed - and Dagmar Turner can now continue to pursue her passion.
