Dozens of protesters gathered today in front of the Banque du Liban and several other banks in the center of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, as part of a series of sit-ins taking place in several Lebanese regions to demand the improvement of banking policy.

The Lebanese National News Agency stated that the streets of Beirut and Hamra witnessed a march during which banners raised the demand for improving financial and banking policy, noting that some protesters carried out sabotage in a number of bank branches on Hamra Street after circulating information that one of the banks halted withdrawals in the US dollar.

In Akkar, in northern Lebanon, protesters cut off the international road at the Nahr Al-Bared Bridge in the town of Al-Muhamara-Akkar to protest the living situation and the shortage of some materials and fuel.

Protesters also cut off the road on the main road of Yassin, the Bekaa, and the highway, Talbaya, the Marj Junction, with burning tires. The Lebanese security forces are working to open the closed roads.

Since October 17, Lebanon has witnessed demonstrations and protest actions calling for improving the living conditions, fighting corruption and holding the corrupt accountable.
