After the hurricane and flood, the jetty between the Länd and Macke facilities in Tegernsee is still closed. The riverside path next to Café Aran is again accessible.

Tegernsee - The footbridge between Länd and Macke-Anlage is still closed after the flood in the first week of February. Because the damage can only be repaired from the ship, the water level must first continue to drop. "We have to check the anchorage of every plank," explains Mayor Johannes Hagn. A few planks need to be replaced. Hagn hopes to be able to open the footbridge again soon.

The riverside path at Café Aran is accessible again. As reported, the city had also had to shut him down due to heavy washouts. In the meantime, pedestrians can stroll along the bank again.

Blocking due to duty to keep traffic safe

Some people may not accept that the end of the stroll along the water is over. Every now and then guests climb over the barrier. The city is at least no longer liable. That is what it is about. The city has to fulfill its traffic safety obligation, Hagn makes it clear. If a guest falls on loose planks, the city would have to pay compensation.

Is the jetty - which is highly controversial before its construction - generally prone to repair? No, says Hagn. In his almost six-year term, the city had to replace "maybe four planks". The wood-steel construction is well adapted to the circumstances: "I would have thought that maintenance would be much more complex."

"That was a full-blown hurricane"

The recent storm was exceptional. “We had wind force 12 for the first time. That was a full-blown hurricane,” explains Hagn. With the force of a sledgehammer, the waves hit the bridge structure. "The spray is sprayed to the Luitpold."

The damage is manageable. A company will do the repair. Incidentally, the footbridge is also somewhat attacked by the clearing service. The stones that need to be sprinkled settle. Nevertheless, the footbridge is kept accessible even in winter. Because the jetty is an attraction all year round, as Hagn knows: "Not to keep it open would be an outrage."
