BIG Pastetten: election campaign at a height of 90 meters

Funny idea: The community of interest groups (BIG) Pastetten invited the citizens to look at their home at a height of 90 meters.

Pastettes - The citizens' interest group (BIG) has now shown how it can go up steeply in the Pastetten community. The list candidates traveled with a Roggermaier lift. This was really "big". The 15-meter-long Scania chassis with the Ruthmann body was anything but inconspicuous.

A 540 hp engine advanced the 48 ton vehicle. Too difficult, by the way, for the original starting location at the recycling center in Reithofen, so that it was necessary to switch to the commercial area. This remained no secret, because the boom and stage were visible from afar. It went up 90 meters, which is an impressive value: many church towers in the district are 30 to 45 meters high.

Bright sunshine and no wind attracted many citizens to take a trip to lofty heights. The fact that the foehn wind exposed the Alps almost completely came as an icing on the cake. So it was not surprising that within a short time a small line of people formed who wanted to fly high. Four people and the operator fit in the basket - you had to be patient.

Ten minutes above the roofs of the community were enough to see the districts from a completely different perspective. The BIG candidates introduced themselves and their electoral program practically on the side. In addition to printed copies, they also had a tag with them that listed the most important points. "We decided to do this because we deliberately didn't want to go to a pub to present ourselves," said top candidate Andreas Wagner (33).

“You can simply drop in here and go again if you don't like it. Sometimes there is an inhibition threshold in a restaurant, ”said Wagner about the action. BIG currently has two municipal councils, along with Wagner Günter Plieninger. But he no longer competes. 24-year-old landscape gardener Andre Nolf is now running for second place.

Since 1996, BIG has been working for all parts of the community as a cross-party and cross-regional association. Their goals include the economical and sensible implementation of both planned fire stations, the development of innovative living concepts for locals and the preservation of the rural structure.

The response to the lift campaign was very gratifying for the BIG candidates: "There was a lot going on in Poigenberg, and there were so many people in Pastetten an der Schwemm that we drove up two hours longer than planned", Wagner said. The outgoing mayor Cornelia Vogelfänger (CSU) and her possible successors Matthias Zimmerer (CSU) and Peter Deischl (FWE) have also risen.
