The 71 active firefighters over the age of 18 were less concerned than last winter with its heavy snowfall. They had to move out a few times to clear fallen trees from the road or to clear snow. "Fortunately, the number of operations was limited," said Leicht.
The fire brigade was relieved significantly, because no urgent roof evacuation had to be carried out. "The municipality carried out measurements of the roof load on public buildings in good time, so the necessary evictions could be allocated in good time," said the commander.
The core task was only on the agenda seven times
At times, work on a "usual" area of focus, Autobahn 95, was "unusual". Due to the extensive construction work involved and the associated lane diversions, a "special alarm plan" applied, said Leicht. The plan was to ensure that a site could be reached even if there was a backlog in the construction site area, if necessary from the opposite lane. This has led to a significantly higher coordination and coordination effort. As a rule, up to six fire departments from two counties were alerted at the same time. "Unfortunately, the number of our missions on the highway did not decrease significantly during this time, despite the reduction in speed," said Leicht with regret.
The core task, namely extinguishing fires, was only on the agenda seven times. The fire brigade provided security guards twice, and ten times it was used to secure or control traffic. Technical assistance (42) and first responder missions (69) were most in demand.
Large-scale exercise in Lengenwies
To the delight of their commander, the volunteer firefighters also showed a great deal of commitment during training and advanced training courses, most of which were completed in their free time. In addition, 14 different exercises were on the annual schedule, of which one major exercise by the Bavarian Red Cross in Lengenwies was particularly remembered. "An exercise in this dimension and the interaction between fire and rescue services was very interesting and instructive for us," reports Leicht.
