Eight people were killed in two shooting incidents in the city of Hanau, near Frankfurt, Germany, police said Thursday. Both incidents occurred in hookah smoking bars in the city. The background to the actions is still unclear.

Security forces launched a hunt for suspects in the act, who fled the vehicle from the scene. Large police forces blocked two streets in the city, while ambulances rushed casualties to hospitals. At the same time, a police plane flew over the city.

Apparently, the gunmen fled the scene of the first shooting in a dark car. Police released phone numbers to the public, asking for any information that could lead to those responsible.
