The panel discussion of the Tölzer Kurier in the Heilbrunn Kursaal was well attended. Thomas Gründl (CSU) and Konrad Specker (FW) answered questions for over 90 minutes.

Bad Heilbrunn - "Bad Heilbrunn has a choice on March 15th and again a selection this year", moderator Andreas Steppan, deputy editor-in-chief of the Tölzer Kurier, stated at the beginning of the panel discussion. The constellation is the same as in 2008. Back then Thomas Gründl (CSU) won with 57.1 percent of the vote and has been the incumbent since then. Konrad Specker (FW) competes with him for the second time. Gründl himself thinks it's good, as he said: "It is important for democracy that you have a choice."

One of the focal points of the discussion was the center of the town - since the municipality bought the relevant areas from the Kurfürstin Adelheid GmbH in 2015, the development of this area has been a main task of the municipal policy.

town center

At the beginning, Steppan asked the question: "What would a walk through the town center look like in twelve years' time?"

Gründl has in mind “a careful development”. He therefore stated that "the town center will not be fully developed in twelve years". In general, however, there should be a "healthy mix of affordable living space, a medical center and a beautiful village square for young and old, and - as many citizens would like - an ice cream parlor". The kindergarten modules currently on the “Post” site had disappeared by then. "You are limited to five years."

Around 150 interested citizens attended the panel discussion in the Heilbrunn Kursaal, and around 50 others followed the debate via live stream on the Internet.

Specker, on the other hand, emphasized that he would like to go through a barrier-free place in twelve years. “With guest information in the center of the town.” He imagines playgrounds, affordable living space, a café and a savings bank. He would also like to meet more tourists on the walk who have their quarters in Bad Heilbrunn. "I want a lively center in which people feel comfortable."

The biggest difference was in speed. Specker always advocated "rapid development". On the podium, however, he put the term "brisk" into perspective. “You should still plan carefully. By rapid development, I mean that you can start implementing it promptly after the planning. ”

Gründl warned against a too rapid development. "Otherwise, the manufacturing contribution structure will be torn apart, the social facilities will no longer be able to keep up, and there will be no building land left for our children and grandchildren."

Another important issue is the creation of affordable housing. Here Specker advocated a cooperative model. People with low or middle incomes should also be able to afford an apartment. "Heilbrunn was always colorful and should stay that way," he said. It is important to create work-related living space. This is important for all districts. The entire town center should not be "too much built up and concreted".

"Affordable housing? Clearly: Yes, “said Gründl. However, the "overall concept had to fit". He was already in dialogue with a lawyer to find the right model. Specifically, he imagined a mix of multi-storey apartment buildings and semi-detached houses. "The character of Bad Heilbrunn with the many green spaces must be maintained."

transparency

The issue of transparency in town hall policy has led to disagreements between the parties in the past. Steppan asked Specker about his wording that he would like to “end the CSU town hall flaw”.

Specker apologized for the choice of words. "That was a rash expression and I didn't want to get too close," he said. "I just said that I wanted to bring a breath of fresh air to the town hall." However, he criticized that the office of mayor and that of the treasurer is in one hand. Here Specker wants to separate the administrative task from the political office of the mayor.

Gründl replied: “These positions should remain united for reasons of economy. A treasurer costs over 70,000 euros a year. ”Transparency in the town hall is becoming more and more difficult due to data protection requirements. In general, he could not "understand" the allegations that the town hall policy was not open enough to the outside world.

Volunteering

There is unanimity between the election programs of the CSU and free voters on the subject of promoting and honoring the voluntary service. Recently, however, there were discord when the CSU invited to an honorary day (we reported). "The sausages would have tasted just as good after March 15th," said Specker. On the podium, the two now agreed that the community should in future be the organizer of volunteer days.
