2020-02-20T05:08:44.731Z

In this Nordeste national park, this hotel appeals to lovers of escape as well as lovers of Brazilian festivals. We tested.

9/10 for My Blue Hotel Jericoacoara

The dunes, the sand, the ocean ... Jericoacoara is a real postcard setting. Small seaside resort in vogue in the Northeast in Brazil, the old fishing village, located in a national park nearly 4 hours drive from Fortaleza, is a place of parties and discoveries. At the end of the week, at the end of the main sandy street, like all the streets of Jéri, the small barracas of caïpirinha settle in a circle and the music pushes young and old to dance in the middle of the square. High place of surfing and kitesurfing, the place is also suitable for 4x4 or buggy rides to discover the freshwater lagoons (Lagoa do Paraiso, Paradise Lagoon, and Lagoa Azul, Azur lagoon). In the late afternoon, vacationers migrate to the dune closest to the village to admire the sunset over the ocean.

10/10 The situation

The My Blue hotel is located in the heart of the village of Jericoacoara. With its direct access to the beach, it enjoys an exceptional location while being only two minutes from the main street where the shops are located. At the end of the street, the Jeri café and its roof top which turns into a nightclub from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Indispensable precaution: have cash with you (or your credit card accepted in all shops), the village has no ATM.

8/10 The decor

The hotel resembles a small Greek village with its white walls, its external staircases, and its rooms arranged on two floors in sort of small hamlets. The decoration in the rooms is minimalism, so as not to distract from the main beauty: the Jeri National Park and its sand dunes. From the reception, covered only with a palm leaf roof, a small paved path runs along the rooms to the dining room, then the beach.

    9/10 The rooms

The 80 rooms of the hotel are spread over two floors. On the ground floor, they have a small lawn area with two deckchairs. Upstairs, they open onto a large balcony with a small round table and two chairs. Few rooms have a sea view because the land is perpendicular to the beach. Most have to settle for the lush green garden or swimming pools. Which in itself is not unpleasant at all. Silent air conditioning is highly appreciated in this corner of Brazil where temperatures rarely drop below 25 degrees, even at night.

    8/10 Service, equipment

The hotel may be by the beach, it has two magnificent swimming pools. A rectangular, on the side, behind the rooms, with an exotic wooden beach at each end protected from the sun by trees. The second, with rounded shapes, is in the center of the complex, near the sports hall. Each has its jacuzzi. Hammocks are just waiting for their hosts for a nap in the shade. Massage enthusiasts will enjoy the spa. Those who prefer the beach can use the deckchairs and towels provided by the hotel. A concierge service can book excursions. But, paradox in a seaside resort frequented by many French, none speak French and very little English.

9/10 At the table and at the bar

The dining room offers unbeatable views of the beach and the ocean. Having breakfast at 7am in the quiet facing the sea is an incomparable luxury. Only the birds disturb the tranquility of the meal to beg for a few crumbs from the cakes and other homemade pastries. The breakfast buffet is tasty, the service impeccable and of an unfailing kindness. At sunset, the space turns into a bar, the ideal place to taste a caipirinha.

    9/10 The price-performance ratio

The price-performance ratio is excellent for an upscale hotel. The rates depend on the season and the quality of the rooms. It takes between 108 and 180 € for a classic room, without sea view.
