Parking costs more security

In order to ensure that the fire brigade can get to the scene of the emergency more quickly, six parking spaces in Holzkirchen are to be eliminated and the one-way regulation in the spring street should be changed. The criticism of the plan is great - also from the citizens.

Holzkirchen - No matter if fire, accident or medical aid: In an emergency, fire brigade operations can make seconds a matter of life and death. In Holzkirchen, which is heavily trafficked by traffic, it is already difficult for the volunteers to adhere to the legal ten-minute period between alerting and arrival at the site - especially if the marketplace and Herdergarten are closed due to an event.

In order to make the journey to the guard easier, the market wants to reverse the one-way regulation in the spring street at the urging of the fire brigade, the district office and the district fire inspection. For the operations in the municipal area, six parking spaces, three in Badgasse and one on the Hochweg, are also to be eliminated. This caused outrage among the council members and the citizens concerned, who occupied every seat in the boardroom, in the local council's traffic committee.

Reverse one-way street not discussed with local residents

But one after anonther. According to market architect Florens Hintler, the reversal of the one-way regulation in the spring street from the marienstrasse - from the Rosenheimer in the direction of Miesbacher street - is necessary, because the volunteer fire-fighters would come to the watch faster. Hubert Müller (FWG) wanted to know whether no one would have noticed with this plan that the residents of Frühlingstrasse 7, a senior couple, could no longer drive to their parking lot: "Is it worth it to us?"

The problem is known, the solution is not optimal for the residents, Johann Bachhuber from the Ordnungsamt reported. But: “Driving backwards is not impossible.” Martina Schweighofer (CSU), on the other hand, thought that the residents could not be expected to do this; Simon Ammer (SPD) also complained that no one had spoken to the local residents.

Partial one-way street not an option

This would not be legally necessary. The reversing of the one-way direction can be implemented by the regulatory office without a corresponding decision, said Mayor Olaf von Löwis (CSU). The aim is to make it transparent that this decision was discussed intensively and considered to be absolutely necessary.

But the decision no longer seems so clear. The councils wondered how the senior couple could continue to be able to park forward - for example with a shortened one-way street only between Marienstrasse and the property. But then Bachhuber sealed off. There is already an open partial one-way street on Hafnerstrasse, and complaints about violations come regularly.

Löwis: A catastrophe is a homicide argument

There was also a lot of discussion about the lack of parking spaces on the high-level walkway on Münchner Strasse in front of Il Crostino. While the operator could do without them, according to Hintler, Albert Kraml (CSU) considered them essential. He is afraid that without the three cross parking spaces, the next shop extinction could be triggered. Instead, the fire department can start from the rear of the building.

It was necessary to dissolve the parking spaces, said Hintler. The road is just wide enough for the emergency vehicles; if they had to do loops, too much time would be lost. "Let something happen!", Löwis became clear. "The catastrophe is a homicide argument for us."

No more events on the Herdergarten?

The parking spaces in Badgasse in front of La Molisana caused less discussion, at least in committee. There were doubts that all three would have to go, but in the end the councils were most comfortable with it. Citizens affected less, however: long in front of the boardroom they discussed how the measure could be prevented. The last word doesn't seem to have been spoken yet.

Löwis promised to sit down again with the fire brigade and weigh up the objections raised. But that shouldn't take too long. The operations control center had made it clear that there could no longer be events in the town center until the ten-minute deadline had been met. Security stings every festival - no matter how popular.
